100 % Natural Beef Bone Broth – Good Old-Fashioned Style

When it comes to comfort in a cup, nothing beats a proper, slow-cooked bone broth. We’re talking about the kind your nan might’ve made: simple, wholesome, and full of goodness. 

Why Bone Broth?

Bone broth is more than just a winter warmer. It’s packed with collagen, amino acids, and minerals; all the good stuff your body loves. It can help support gut health, give your immune system a hand, promote healthy skin and hair, keep your joints happy, and even help you sleep better. Those natural compounds like chondroitin and glucosamine sulphates are also great for easing inflammation.

What You’ll Need

- Marrow bones

- Beef bones

- Water to cover

- Salt & pepper

- A big pot

How to Make It – 3 Simple Steps

  1. Roast the marrow bones
     Pop them on a tray and into the oven for 45 minutes at 180°C. This brings out that rich, deep flavour, which intern caramelizes the Marrow Bones leaving a really roasted type of a flavour.

  2. Simmer low and slow
    Add your roasted marrow bones and beef bones to a big pot. Fill with water so the bones are fully covered – keep topping up as it cooks. Add a decent amount of good quality sea salt to taste and pepper to your liking. Let it simmer for approximately 18 hours (you can turn it off overnight and start again the following day).

  3. Cool and separate
    Remove the bones and let the broth cool for an hour.  Then strain the liquid to remove any cooked meat off the bones.  This can be stored and reused in another dish such as a casserole or slow cook. Leave the liquid to separate.  The tallow (fat) will solidify on top – scoop it off and store separately from the broth.


When you’re ready for a nourishing cup, heat 250ml of broth on the stove, season to taste, and enjoy.  The tallow removed from the top of the bone broth can be used for many things including a cooking foundation to replace oil or butter.

 

Tip: Store your broth in airtight containers – it’ll keep in the fridge for weeks or in the freezer for months.
